Our web site is designed primarily to inform and empower women suffering from endometriosis and/or chronic pelvic pain.We prefer not to call them "victims" of endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain, as this would imply that there is little they can do by themselves to alter the course of the disease. As you browse through our web pages, you will note that there are multiple approaches and treatment options from which to choose. Our pages will provide you with information and representative photographs of different conditions. We are striving to make ourselves understandable to the lay person. Symptoms and signs described are frequently overlapping and are common to many locations of the disease. The treatment options are provided for your information and they should of course be discussed with a physician familiar with your condition. Preferred treatments and suggestions are based on the experience of the author of this site, Thomas Janicki, MD. Dr. Janicki's opinions do not exclude other treatment options that might be appropriate for you. The approach to the treatment of the disease most favored by the author is closely linked to the theory of Physiologic Endometriosis and Endometriotic Disease. This theory favors combination of surgical and medical treatment for Endometriotic Disease, and vigilant observation for "Physiologic Endometriosis" not associated with pain or infertility.

Summaries of treatment methods are provided in the different categories under: Established, and New and Emerging. On occasion, you may find it frustrating that some of the treatment options listed in The New and Emerging section are not available yet in the United States, or that they may be restricted to placebo-controlled trials. Some of them will be coming to the U.S. within a few years. It is important that you discus any of these issues with your physician.

This web site is designed for you and we welcome your comments and suggestions. If you have specific questions about your condition, you can send us an e-mail. I hope, however, that you will understand that I cannot address your situation specifically, as this would constitute a violation (practicing medicine without a license outside the state of Ohio). Instead, I will attempt to answer the general question in your e-mail in our Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.) section.

At this time the Endometriosis portion of our web site is completed, Acute Pelvic Pain, Chronic Pelvic Pain, and Infertility segments are still under construction. Check them frequently.

Sincerely,

Thomas I. Janicki, MD
